AYSO is a nationwide non-profit organization founded in 1964 that develops and delivers quality youth soccer programs in a fun, family environment based on Six Philosophies:
- Everyone Plays - AYSO's goal is for kids to play soccer. So, it mandates that
every player on every team must play at least half of every game, regardless of skill level.
- Balanced Teams - Each year a computer program selects new teams based on
coach evaluations from the previous year, age, and number of years played.
- Positive Coaching - This builds a positive team spirit. AYSO trains and
encourages the coaches to make the extra effort to understand and offer positive help to the players, rather than negative criticism.
- Open Registration - There are no try-outs for AYSO. All children, ages 4-18 who
register and want to play soccer are welcomed.
- Good Sportsmanship - AYSO creates a positive environment based on mutual
respect, rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude.
- Player Development - Coaches, referees and parents working together to
develop all level of a player's development.
